• HOMEWORK!

Students are issued homework every Monday and it is due back Friday.  If the student is absent, they will have the amount of days excused to make up the work.  Although homework can sometimes feel stressful, it is designed to allow students to further practice the skills they are learning on a daily basis in the classroom and be able to apply their knowledge.

    ELA Homework:

Every week, students will recieve a list of spelling and vocabulary words.  Students are encouraged to create a story using those words and descriptive details, while adding context clues to the vocabulary words they include.

    MATH Homework:

Students will recieve a four square homework sheet that may include equations to solve, but will mostly be based on problem solving.  Students are encouraged to read the word problems closely, identifying key words/phrases, and determine the correct operation needed to solve.  As the school year evolves and the rigor in the content incresases, the students will be encouraged to perform complex tasks when problem solving such as determining errors in reasoning, solving multi-step and multi-operational problems, and setting up an equation to determine the unknown properly. In the classroom, we use the CUBES acronym to closely read the problem... encourage your child to do the same at home!
