    Brett A. Thorp

    Principal

John Phillips said it well, “Goodness without knowledge is weak and feeble, yet knowledge without goodness is dangerous. Both united form the noblest character.”  I firmly believe in the strong partnership between character and academics.  My name is Brett Thorp and I look forward to working with you, your child(ren), and the Denbo-Crichton Elementary School learning community to “Pursue Excellence One Child at a Time!

Denbo-Crichton Elementary School is committed to educating the whole child in a positive and safe learning environment. To make this mission a reality, our highly qualified staff instructs students with a rigorous curriculum and the belief that all students can learn. Our staff utilize interactive SMARTboards, 1:1 student iPads or Chromebooks, and research-based best practices to keep students engaged and active in their learning.

Denbo-Crichton Elementary School is a professional learning community. Teams of educators, focused on learning and results, collaborate on a weekly basis. Analyzing common formative assessment data, discussing instructional strategies, and job embedded training are a few of the many ways our teams aspire to continuously improve learning. A supplemental period of interventions and enrichment (WIN – What I Need), scheduled during the school day, provides a timely response to student needs. Furthermore, differentiated instruction through our Gifted and Academic Mastery programs challenge and support students as they strive to meet the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.

Through character education, we hope to facilitate in each student a lifelong love of learning, strong self-esteem, ethical values, and a respect and appreciation for diversity.   The core values of the school are SERVICE, PERSEVERANCE, INTEGRITY, RESPECT, and RESPONSIBILITY.

It truly is an honor to be principal of Denbo-Crichton Elementary School and work with the community, students, parents, and staff.  Together, we will “Pursue Excellence One Child at a Time!”

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of any assistance.  I look forward to a great school year!

    Best wishes,
