The Jazz Band at Pemberton Township High School provides students with a chance to learn about and perform jazz music - the original American art form.
The ensemble gives students the opportunity to learn and play a variety of different styles ranging from Big Band swing, to Latin jazz and rock. The Jazz band performs music written for standard jazz ensemble instrumentation - 5 saxophones, 4 trombones, 4 trumpets, piano, guitar, bass and drums. Changes to this instrumentation may be made on a year-by-year basis, depending on the specific needs of selections.
Any student enrolled in a curricular music class is eligible to audition for the Jazz Band. Auditions are blind and will take place at the end of November. Additional materials will be given out end of October and made available on this site. All students will receive a judges critique sheet after the audition. Rehearsals take place on Wednesday's afterschool from 2:30-4:30pm.
