Mrs. Rory Schwemer
Welcome!
I am the School Counselor responsible for all AVID students. I will be working with the students to ensure that they are successful in their classes as well as assisting in the college admission process.
I am also the counselor for regular education students that are sent to either Burlington County Alternative High School or Burlington County Special Services School - Lumberton Campus. I work with the students as their liaison and advocate to PTHS to ensure that they meet all the requirements for graduation. I meet with students and staff weekly to ensure that the students are successful while at an Out of District placement.
I am also the district's Student Assistance Counselor (SAC). In this role, I work with students regarding various socioemotional issues that arise throughout their time in high school. As the district SAC, I will also meet with students that violate the drug, alcohol, or tobacco policies.
As the Anti Bullying Specialist at PTHS, I investigate all the harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying reports that are made at the high school and provide counseling as necessary.
Another role that I have is as a Test Coordinator for the high school. The tests that I run in the building are PSATs (October), NJSLA (January and May/June), and the 11th grade Science Assessment (June).
While I have many roles at the high school, the most important role that I have is being a counselor that is available for ALL students. My door is always open and I am available to meet with any student that is in need. I believe that it is very important for students to have at least one adult in the building that they are comfortable with and feel that they can reach out to if they are in need of assistance.
I am looking forward to a great year at PTHS! See you around the building.
