PTHS Graphic Arts 1- Course Summary Description
This course will start with an introduction to the Mac Computer and an intro to Adobe Illustrator CC - a vector graphics editing software. Vector graphics are comprised of paths, which are defined by a start and end point, along with other points, curves, and angles along the way. A path can be a line, square, triangle, or a curvy shape. Students will start using typography, then drawing and manipulating simple shapes to create logos, business cards, memo pads, menus, board games, text, 3D images, cereal boxes, brochures, cartoons, and line art drawings.
Students will also be introduced to Adobe Photoshop CC - a predominant photo editing and manipulation software that allows users to manipulate, crop, resize, and correct color on digital photos. It is widely used by photographers for photo editing (fixing colors, reducing noise, adding effects, fixing brightness/contrast) and by graphic artists and web designers to create and change images for web pages. Students will then create magazine covers, movie posters, out of bound, pop art, music collage, avatar creation, and self-dvd movie covers.
In addition, the fundamentals of Graphic Design, Computer Animation, and Sketch.lO will be explored.
