About the AVID Program at PTHS

Although AVID serves all students, it focuses on the least served students in the academic middle. The formula is simple - raise expectations of students and, with the AVID support system in place, they will rise to the challenge. What differentiates AVID from other educational reform programs is its astounding success rate. AVID is implemented in more than 6,400 schools in 47 states across the U.S., plus schools in DoDEA, Canada, and Australia. AVID impacts 2 million students in grades K–12 and 50 postsecondary institutions.

How do students enroll in AVID?

Students are admitted to the AVID Program on a rolling basis. As openings occur, students are identified by staff members as potential AVID students and are encouraged to apply. Students must meet all academic requirements to be considered for the program.
