Welcome!
I am so excited to begin my 5th year as Supervisor of Early Childhood here in Pemberton Township. I began working in Pemberton ten years ago as a preschool teacher. During my time as a teacher, I worked in a general education classroom, in-class resource room, and as a Master Teacher. Prior to coming to Pemberton, I taught preschool in Trenton for 6 years. My educational background includes a BS in Psychology from Rowan, a P-3 certification from the College of New Jersey, a MA in Educational Psychology from Rutgers, and a MA in Educational Leadership from Drexel University.
Preschool is the ideal time to introduce children and families to the importance of consistent on-time attendance and to encourage strong attendance habits. Educators, policymakers, researchers and families agree: Early education is vital to a child’s success. A high-quality preschool program can build early literacy and math skills, as well as develop the social and emotional foundation children need to persist in school. But preschoolers – whether in Head Start, public pre-kindergarten or in a private program – only receive the full effect of these benefits if they show up for class regularly.
Here in Pemberton, we use the state approved HighScope curriculum. It is based on the principles of active learning and support of a child's positive interactions with adults and peers. It addresses all areas of development The methods used promote independence, curiosity, decision making, cooperation, persistence, creativity and problem solving.
