Early Childhood Education Overview
Pemberton Township Schools is proud to offer every three and four year old child in Pemberton Township a free, quality, full-day preschool program. This popular program provides children with a full day of fun and education by addressing the needs of the whole child.
Research has shown that children who participate in an early childhood education program build a life-long love of learning. In addition, studies show preschool participants perform better on standardized testing, achieve more economic success in life and have less social issues, such as involvement in substance abuse or gangs. The early childhood program at Pemberton Township Schools starts children off on the right foot, providing the skills necessary to succeed, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
A Five Star Program!
In 2016, the Pemberton Early Childhood Education Center was awarded a Five-Star rating from Grow NJ Kids. Grow NJ Kids is New Jersey’s Quality Rating Improvement System designed to raise the quality of child care and early learning across the state. It provides parents with information on selecting a quality provider to help them make the most of their child’s early learning opportunities, and it also provides early learning programs with resources to help them improve their programs. Pemberton is proud to receive this distinguished 5-Star rating, the highest rating possible.
Free early childhood services are provided from September through June, from approximately 9:10 am to 3:40 pm. The program follows the school calendar year, including the same holidays and breaks as the school district. A district calendar is distributed at the beginning of every school year, detailing days off.
For families requiring services outside of the regular school day, we offer a Wrap-around Program beginning at 6:00 am and ending at 6:00 pm. Wrap-around services are offered year round, including full days during spring and winter breaks, as well as the summer months. Separate registration is required for the Wrap-around Program and can be made by calling Karen Tennis at (609) 893-8141, ext. 1513 or 1514.
Four year olds are provided with transportation to the early childhood program. A busing orientation program is offered at each school site at the start of the year to go over proper safety procedures and reassure both child and parent.
