  • Boy Smiling Pemberton Learning Community: Pursuing Excellence One Child at a Time

Pemberton Township Schools serves approximately 4,500 students from Pemberton Township, Pemberton Borough and Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. With a dedicated early childhood education center serving 3 and 4 year-old pre-kindergarten students, five elementary schools (grades kindergarten through 5th), two middle schools (one for grade 6, another for grades 7 and 8), and high school (grades 9-12), Pemberton Township Schools provide a quality, comprehensive education for all students.

Students get a head start on learning in Pemberton with the Early Childhood Education program, where three and four year olds thrive in our free, full-day educational program. In our elementary schools, reading and writing skills are taught across the curriculum, supported by numerous literacy resources, such as the ReadyGen and Fundations programs. Schedules for students in kindergarten through 8th grade enable a guaranteed and viable curriculum, as well as providing students with intervention/enrichment during the school day. Small class sizes in our elementary schools provide an optimal learning environment, while block scheduling at our middle and high school levels allows students to delve into specific subject areas for significant time periods each semester.

At the high school level, Specialized Learning Academies provide motivated students with a comprehensive education in a focused area of interest. The three academies currently offered are the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Academy (STEM), the Medical Arts Academy, and the Fine Arts and Music Experience Academy (FAME). Students continue to take advantage of our expanded AP course offerings and enroll in the College Accreditation Program, earning college credits before even graduating from high school.

Our use of technology as a learning tool continues, with 1:1 devices provided for all students in grades Kindergarten through 12. STEAM offerings include 3D printers, virtual reality headsets, robotics and more. Large, interactive flat screen TVs and Smartboards in classrooms help move us forward in our mission to provide individualized, blended learning.

Pemberton has established chapters with the National Elementary Honor Society, the National Junior Honor Society and the National Honor Society, and proudly inducts new members into the societies each year. A thriving Gifted and Talented Program along with AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) and PBSIS (Positive Behavior Support in Schools) are in place to ensure that we provide students with the knowledge, support and skills they need to succeed.

We are proud to announce that all nine of our schools carry the designation of New Jersey State Schools of Character, and the majority of them have been named National Schools of Character. The New Jersey Department of Education These designations affirm our commitment to character education, as we strive to build a climate of respect throughout all of our schools, focusing on the social-emotional and character development of all our students.

We are proud to serve as a school community for members of the military, with one of our schools located on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, and nearly 20% of our student population in all schools being part of a military family. Every one of our schools has been named a Purple Star School by the NJ Department of Education, in recognition of our unending support, service, and commitment to our Military Families. Our military affiliation affords us the privilege of educating students from all branches of the armed services, and we are pleased to provide students and families with a connection to both the military community and a comprehensive, supportive school system.

Rounding out our full spectrum of academic and student services are extensive enrichment studies, an excellent special needs program, winning athletic programs, outstanding theater and music programs, a broad range of extra-curricular activities, and caring support services. As a participant in the NJ State School Choice program, we have the opportunity to welcome students from outside our district who apply to enroll in our schools.
