Jeff Havers, Superintendent
-
Jeffrey Havers began his role of superintendent of Pemberton Township Schools in February, 2021. He previously served as Pemberton’s assistant superintendent for elementary, preschool – fifth grade from 2018-2021. He was Pemberton's director of curriculum and instruction for prek - 5 for two years prior. Under his leadership, the district’s K-5 students recorded significant increases in academic achievement, including improving scores by nearly 10% on the measure of reading at grade level. Math scores gained 7.5% and English Language Arts scores increased 14% under his tutelage.
During his tenure as assistant superintendent, Havers managed several significant projects, including serving as chairperson for the district’s Return to School Roadmap committee. His role in this multi-faceted strategy included supervising all aspects of the planning and implementation of district COVID-19 protocols and instructional plans.
Havers was instrumental in the district earning the “High Performing” designation through the New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum (QSAC) process—the first time the district received this prestigious recognition. He also served as the district liaison to the School Development Authority (SDA) for the construction of the district’s new $62 million school in Browns Mills. The state-of-the-art, two-story elementary school opened its doors to over 850 K-5 students in 2020.
Other achievements during his tenure at Pemberton include reconfiguring the elementary master schedule to provide instructional consistency and to improve efficiencies in staffing, and enhancing the character education program that resulted in every elementary school earning the distinction of National School of Character. In addition, he was recognized as a Visionary Leader by the Burlington County Principal and Supervisors Association for conducting monthly training sessions with all new teachers.
Prior to joining Pemberton, Havers served as the principal of Berlin Community School (kindergarten through eighth grade) in Berlin, NJ for six years. He was a teacher at Hainesport Elementary School in Hainesport, NJ for 13 years, teaching both fifth grade and social studies for grades sixth through eighth. He was named Hainesport’s Teacher of the Year in 2008.
