  • ATTENTION Helen Fort and Newcomb Middle School families.

Last month, we invited you to a Middle School Focus Group. Parents who attended expressed a need to learn more about the iPads that our students use as well as how teachers use the iPads for instruction.

In response to this request, we are hosting two more parent focus groups in the coming weeks for all middle school parents and guardians. First, please join us on January 30 in the Marcus Newcomb Middle School Library at 6 p.m. to explore how teachers in grades 6-8 use the iPads and Google Classroom to deliver 21st-century instruction. Also, please plan to attend on February 6 at 6 p.m. in the Helen Fort Middle School Library to explore the digital curriculum that we use in all of our classes, grades 6-8 . The curriculum supervisors will be on hand to answer your questions.

You can register for these focus groups on the Newcomb or Helen Fort webpage at We hope to see you at both events!

Students can bring in cans of soup to be donated to local agencies. Homeroom teachers will provide students with a buzz buck for empathy for each can of soup they donate. Cans should be brought to the main office each morning.

  • This December, we will be collecting mittens, gloves, scarves, hats, and socks. We will have these items available to our students in need and also donate remaining items to local agencies. Community service is an important way for our students to show empathy to those in need and our students.
