Mr. Koernig

The beginning of the 2024-2025 school year marks the continuation of my twenty-third year as an elementary teacher in Pemberton Township. Over the years, I have taught at Harker-Wylie, Fort Dix, and Samuel T. Busansky as either a Class Size Reduction, Inclusion, Second, or Third Grade teacher. I am currently teaching third grade.

My educational background is very diverse. I graduated from Mansfield University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Studio Art. Later, after joining the United States Air Force, I completed the requirements for my Associates of Applied Science in Aerospace Maintenance Technology. Then in August of 2008, I completed my Master of Science in Educational Administration from the University of Scranton.

I became a teacher through the Alternate Route Program after separating from the United States Air Force and have always been involved with my profession. I was awarded Teacher of the Year and served as Lead Teacher for two years. I have served in many leadership roles such as Head Building Representative for our union, Association Representative, Chair of Climate Committee, and Chair of the Building Advisory Committee at the school level. At the district level, I have served as Chair of the District Liaison Committee, member of Executive and Representative Council, and Statistician on our Negotiation Team. At the county level, I served as an officer for Burlington County Education Association and was a member of Executive and Representative Council. I also represented Burlington County Education Association at the state level on the NJEA Urban Education Committee. I was nominated and selected to attend a highly competitive and intensive training session at NJEA’s John V. Warms Union School to learn about the different facets NJEA offers.

I have also served on several other school/district-based committees such as Behavior Expectation Committee, Teacher/Family Connection Committee, Dress Code Committee, Curriculum Committee, Middle States Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, Professional Learning Committee, and Data Collection Committee.

I value teamwork and look forward to working with you to help educate your child and make them successful this year!
