Mrs. Natalie Houwen

This is my 31st year of teaching in the Pemberton Township School district. Currently, I am a Reading Intervention teacher, using the Fundations program with my students in Kindergarten, First, and Second grades, at the Isaiah Haines Elementary School. I also enjoy serving our students: as our building's tutoring coordinator, as an after school tutor, and as a representative on our IRST team, along with working with Denbo's students in Homework Club in our 21st Century Program.

Throughout my years of teaching in Pemberton, I have taught in the following capacities: a Kindergarten classroom teacher, a First grade classroom teacher, the General Education teacher in a First grade Inclusion classroom, a Second grade classroom teacher, as well as, I was a trained Reading Recovery teacher. Prior to my Pemberton Township teaching experience, I also taught Language Arts, in a Special Education classroom in Mt. Laurel, Middle School, as well as, having been a lead teacher in two, private Early Childhood schools, in Burlington County. I am a graduate of Pemberton Township High School, Burlington County College, and TCNJ. I hold teaching certifications for: Early Childhood, and Elementary Teacher- with a Bachelor of Science degree, from the College of New Jersey, as well as, I have a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction: Reading- from Grand Canyon University.

My goal is to provide additional support for my Academic Mastery students, to develop literacy skills they can use to become better thinkers, learners, and readers. I am looking forward to a good year!
