Mrs. Courtney McLaren
Hello and Welcome to D-12!
My name is Courtney McLaren (Formerly Ms. Carlson, until June, when I got married) and this is my 4th year as an ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) Teacher here at PECEC in Pemberton Township. When I was 12 years old my family moved from Wrightstown to Browns Mills and I attended 6th-12th here in Pemberton. I graduated from "The College Of Saint Elizabeth" with a Bachelors Degree in Education and also a Bachelors in English.I am dually certified to teach Early Childhood and Elementary Education. While in school I also obtained my Special Education Certification. Never have a found a job more rewarding than working in an ABA classroom! I started my career right out of college as a teachers assitant at the Y.A.L.E. School in Voorhees, NJ. During the 8 months I spent at Y.A.L.E., I worked in a classroom of 6 students who ranged from the ages of 5-8. The classroom was a 1:1 ratio between staff and students and this allowed me to become fully trained in ABA practices and also the ABLLS-R Curriculum. In the summer of 2014 I recieved wonderful news that I would be working as a self contained ABA preschool teacher!
Each and everyday that I walk into PECEC I am instantly motivated and inspired by the students that are in my classroom! The growth that occurs within each student from the beginning of their time with me to the end is simply amazing. Here in D-12 we work very hard and their hard work always shows throughout the school day. Each child recieves a very individualized education which allows them to blossom to their fullest potential while here in preschool!
Not many people get to say that they love what they do for a living but I am one of those people and education is truly my greatest passion!
