Mike Gorman is currently in his sixth year with Pemberton Township Schools, after serving as superintendent of Glassboro Public Schools for five years. Other stops along his career path have been deputy superintendent of Salem County Vocational Technical Schools in Woodstown; principal of Pennsville Memorial High School in Pennsville; assistant principal of Woodstown High School in Woodstown; and teacher and football coach at both Pitman High School in Pitman, NJ and Chester High School in Chester, PA.
Committed to improving student performance, Gorman has initiated the “Literacy is Job One,” campaign throughout Pemberton Schools, emphasizing reading across the curriculum. Other objectives include improving test scores on the New Jersey State assessments, particularly at the middle school, and increasing student success in post-secondary education. He believes strongly in the schools’ slogan, “You can get there from here,” reminding students that when they take advantage of all Pemberton has to offer, exceptional opportunities await them after graduation.
Recognizing the unique needs of the military student and family, Gorman works closely with military officials to ensure Pemberton Schools provide productive learning experiences for children of military families. He recently completed a year serving as an Honorary Commander at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
Gorman is a member of a number of professional organizations, most notably, a charter member of both the National Superintendents Roundtable and the Panasonic Foundation’s New Jersey Network of Superintendents.

Pat Austin joined Pemberton Township Schools as Business Administrator/Board Secretary in July 2003, bringing extensive experience in finance and management to her position. She previously worked in the private sector for over 16 years for a major corporation. In addition, she worked at the Department of Education as a Director of Fiscal Standards and Efficiencies and then as the County Business Administrator. Prior to coming to Pemberton Township, she was the Business Administrator in Gloucester City.
Austin is currently in her 10th year in the district and has made many contributions to both the fiscal integrity of Pemberton Township Schools, as well as the building structures. She protected the district’s State Aid decline with solid financial reserves with no financial debt and by securing both Federal and State dollars for infrastructure. She also negotiated $13 million of Federal dollars for additions and improvements to Fort Dix Elementary School. Additionally, Austin petitioned the State for over $5 million of Emergent State Grants for security systems and other projects in the district’s other schools. Over the past five years, she has orchestrated necessary upgrades to numerous district buildings, including new roofs and boilers. Her proudest accomplishment was the completion of four new High School science rooms that bring the newest technology to all of our students.
Austin is currently a member of the Joint Insurance Fund Board of Trustees. She is also the vice president of the Burlington County School Business Officials and is slated to be president in the 2013-2014 school year. She is active in the Pemberton Township High School Hall of Fame and gladly contributes her time to support their efforts for scholarships for Pemberton students.

Deborah Beideman

Deborah Beideman was named the district’s director of curriculum and instruction in the fall of 2007. She joined Pemberton from Burlington Township School District, where she served as supervisor of curriculum and instruction for five years.
Beideman has years of experience in curriculum and instruction, and while at Burlington, she supervised all academic areas, planned and promoted professional development, wrote and revised curriculum, analyzed test data and supervised and evaluated teachers, among other duties.
Before serving as supervisor of curriculum and instruction at Burlington Township Public Schools, she worked in the Educational Services Unit (BCSS) in a similar capacity. She has an extensive background in speech/language pathology and served as department chair, speech/language pathologist and elementary school teacher for Deptford Township Schools.
Beideman’s business experience includes serving as the director and owner of Speech and Language Associates in Mullica Hill, where she maintained speech/pathology contracts with various health care agencies.
She is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the Burlington County Inclusion Project; the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association; Center for Outreach and Services for the Autism Community; and an executive officer of TRUST Township Residents, a United and Supportive Team.

John Mazzei

John Mazzei returned to the position of Director of Human Resources after serving as the district’s Interim Superintendent for the 2006-2007 school year. Before coming to Pemberton, he worked in the Washington Township School District where he held the position of Director of Human Resources. Prior to that he served as superintendent of schools for Alloway Township and worked as director of academic and community programs in the Woodbury School District.
Mazzei has extensive experience as a classroom teacher, principal, guidance counselor and central office administrator. He has been named Who's Who in American Education and Outstanding Leader in Elementary and Secondary Education.

Adelina Giannetti

Adelina G. Gianetti joined Pemberton Township School district in October, 2002. Prior to her role as Director of Special Services, she served as Assistant Director of Instruction for Special Services and Special Education Supervisor.
Before coming to Pemberton she served as the Principal of Larc School for two years. Her previous experience includes serving as a Reading Specialist for Lenape Regional High School District and Teacher of the Handicapped for students with emotional and behavioral disabilities at the Y.A.L.E. School.
Gianetti brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Pemberton, including expertise in special education, reading instruction and assessment, professional development, school administration, innovative best practices, research based strategies and instruction and child advocacy. She also serves an Adjunct Professor at Temple University for the College of Education. In addition, she has consulted for various school districts in New Jersey and has offered a variety of presentations on current educational issues.

Kathy Forman-Smith

Beginning her career in the late 70’s, Kathy Forman-Smith was named Director of Early Childhood for the district in 2005. She has displayed exemplary skills and leadership in spearheading the three-and four-year old preschool program since 1998.
Forman-Smith began her career in the district as a basic skills teacher at the high school level while pursuing an advanced degree in reading. She left the district to serve as a reading specialist for the Hamilton Township School District but returned seven years ago when the position of Early Childhood Supervisor was created.
Under her leadership, the program has grown from 112 students to a current enrollment of 600. Forman-Smith was the driving force behind the District’s plan to build an Early Childhood Center off Arney’s Mount Road on the open property next to the high school location. As Director, she is responsible for overseeing the mandates of the Abbot program as well as staff, private providers, funding and facilities.
